Through the lens of vegetation. This poetic series of photographs are printed on Curious Translucent Clear 112 gr adding to that perspective. From Jon Brunberg's text: The images depict urban vegetation – street environments and growing communities – in some of the world’s largest cities: in particular New York and Rio de Janeiro. These are places that create a sense of community, experiences, and other values for those that take care of and visit them, although here they are presented absent of people. We cannot “hear” the noise from the surrounding environment. It is muted. A thoughtful and reflective silence. All this creates a sense that we through the photographs view the world on the terms of the plants. This is of course an illusion. The environments we encounter in Annika Thörn Legzdins’ book are formed by and for humans, just like most of the landscapes that we see in images or visit. The question is if it is even possible in the Anthropocene to imagine a landscape on our earth that has not been affected by humans. From the publisher: "Ephemera" depicts an urban vegetation in a couple of the world's largest cities. These are places that create community, cohesion, experiences and other values for those who live in, care for and visit these cities, but which are presented here without people. It creates a feeling that through the photographs we see the world through the lense of the plants.
