A biography richly illustrated Swedish artist Torsten Renqvist started his career as a painter and graphic artist. He gained recognition and success fairly quickly and crowned that period in his life by burning the paintings. . He then turned to sculpture, mainly in wood. Working with a small knife in an oldfashioned manner, he created the most extraordinary and original pieces. Inspiration came from Polish folkart, scuplture from the Middle Ages, antiquity on Crete, from Egypt and scraps from the newspapers. There is always a strong anti-heroic element present, characteristic for his art. The book has numerous illustration were this expression can be studied in situations with mythic and moral aspects.
