Swedish artist Maria Hall traveled to France to revisit the exact places that Carl Fredrik Hill painted during the late 1870's. Hall's and Hill's works are presented together in this book – along with a longer essay by Hall.
From the publisher:
For a couple of years, Maria Hall has traveled around France to seek out the places where Carl Fredrik Hill painted his masterpieces during the second half of the 1870s and his so-called healthy period. On his art history excursions, Hall found some of Hill's motifs completely intact while others had been altered. The exact locations where Hill stood with his easel were documented. Through his basic research, Hall found to his surprise that some of Hill's drawings and paintings are misattributed. These completely new findings are presented in this book.
The book consists of rich visual material and a longer essay in which Hill's and Hall's journeys are woven together like a web.
